Oh for God's sake - get over it - and relax!
I've been posting on the internet since the mid 1990s and with literally tens of thousands of posts under my belt, have met every conceivable type person out there; from the worst trolls to the "oh dear, I don't like what he said" type - and everything in between.
With all that experience I can tell you there is ONE type that almost never shows up; and that's the type that says "hmmm...perhaps I should reconsider my views."
I put my "hammer" away long ago. I did so because I accepted the rebuttals I got for it. And coincidentally or not - as the board matured, there was less and less need for it anyway. (I believe to this day it drove away those who have no business posting on a public board in the first place - and trust me, there's plenty of 'em.)
But that doesn't mean I have to be a sissy and keep my mouth shut EVERY time I see what I believe to be a scientific absurdity on a science-based board (and the same applies on finance boards which are not moderated) - but surprisingly (?) when I do it there, I actually get better feedback - perhaps because when it comes to MONEY, people are more open to alternative views.)
As for my "arrogance" (or whatever one wants to call it) - I always get that complaint from people who lack knowledge of the subject at hand. My "reply" to that complaint is - "I'm not going to dumb myself down to please others." And if THAT is a problem (as you declare it to be for everyone here) then I have no problem with moving on to fresher waters in the vast world wide web.
The bottom line is - and I've said this every year - I don't post to please people - I'm "half liberal, half conservative, and 100% a rationalist; and I don't have a 135 IQ because I lack critical thinking.
And on a final note, I notice you write well. I expect more from you!
Like me, hate me, whatever; I shoot from the hip (even when it comes to Jim Williams whom I've criticized repeatedly for his anti-Bistardi rants) - and will continue to do so as long as I remain here.
Do you really want me to "walk on eggshells" with all my replies? Doing so may relieve a bit of stress out there but without stress - what do we learn? (And yes, I know that goes BOTH WAYS.)
