For places in the warm and muggy southeast, the record high-low stat which you quoted is probably a better tool to gauge the overall heat content of the atmosphere. A record high-low is a reflection of the moisture content, in which heat is stored. So when comparing heat readings around the US I like to use this stat as giving a better idea of what the overall heat content in the atmosphere is. You mention that one reading of 83 degrees, which I think is an exceptional reading. |
