Chris, My condolances for your lightening woes.
We had power outage about two weeks ago and the stutter when it came back on fried my computer despite multiple surge protectors.  I was backed up within the last month-- but it's surprising when I catch myself looking for something-- and then remember-- oh it went away with the old computer! Ha!
 Hadn't thought of the cable needing something too.  So thanks for your research.
