SHORT RANGE FORECAST DISCUSSION NWS HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL PREDICTION CENTER CAMP SPRINGS MD 353 AM EDT THU OCT 15 2009 VALID 12Z THU OCT 15 2009 - 00Z SAT OCT 17 2009 A DEEPENING LOW OFF THE EAST COAST HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BRING SNOW TO THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION LATE THIS WEEK. A STRONG WAVE OF MID-LEVEL ENERGY IS MOVING IN BEHIND THE LOW CURRENTLY OFF THE SOUTH CAROLINA COAST. THE RAPID DEEPENING OF THIS LOW WILL ROTATE A STRONG SURGE OF MOISTURE INLAND TO ITS NORTHWEST...PRODUCING HEAVY PRECIPITATION ALONG THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST. COUPLED WITH THE UNSEASONABLY COLD TEMPERATURES...THIS SYSTEM IS PRIMED TO BRING SNOW TO CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA...SOUTHERN NEW YORK...AND NORTHEASTERN OHIO THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT.
