| No. I and many others here have watched storms drop 30 - 40 millibars in a matter of hours. That's rapid intensification. I do think Irene will start intensifying more rapidly over the next 24-48 hours, though, because she is poised to track over some of the warmest waters in the Atlantic, where the heat content runs very deep. |
