Abaco Island experienced minimal surge from everything I have heard and that was cat 3. It hit near high tide & the west facing beaches are vulnerable to surge but didnt get much. Now I know the funneling of water could still be a problem as the water piles up but it all depends on the trajectory of Irene when it comes in to LI. I expect people on the west side of this system will get much less effects than the east side. |
