IDK, I feel mixed because as I'm excited for our weak TS conditions, I'm horrified at the potential storm surge along the midatlantic and NE and the countless who will die not heeding storm surge warnings because "its only a cat ...."

I did a big paper for school on Ike because it was my most impactful for me as a person. At the time I had learned alot from this forum and Jack and school and was really starting to understand these things in depth. Anyhow, I found so much literature in research papers on Ike who said "oh it's just barely a cat 2" and then to find out their home was washed away and their "missing". That horrifies and aggravates me. When working on a 30 year climatology database on Tornadoes in the NE at the NWS in Albany I *hated* having to type in the ammount of fatalities when there were any so I am more prone to being emostionally stirred by the tragedy. Theres many in our field who have a fine line in that respect but it's hard for me personally to not let it affect me. I literally have cried at some situations. I think i cried reading a discussion from NHC about "certain death" in a Ike discussion at the time, and remember crying AGAIN when writing my research paper because it bothers me so much that people loose their lives because they're ignorant to what they'r talking about.

I'm like my mom and her father. Quick to whoop your ----, first one to cry over something sad, lol.
