If I may share with you?

I get it, I really get it.  How or why or should you justify your excitement and interest, fascination and awe, when things can be going very wrong, deadly wrong for folks caught in it. I've been on 'this board' in particular for a long time.   I can remember watching sat loops of Mitch, those were some of the first high resolution loops ever.  Watching those loops of that amazing huge symetrical well organized machine made out of nothing but air and water.  But also realizing that the people that were stuck under that monster for days, not hours, days, how can I think this is cool, interesting?
Mitch was a storm that really made me want to learn about tropical systems.  I wanted to know, exactly as you stated, what, how, why.  It became my obsessive hobby instead of an Oh Crap news watcher.   I have learned a BUNCH on this board and on others as I'm sure you have learned some things you didnt get in school.
But I bet I can say one thing that everyone is reading this and you and I have in common is,,, when there is a storm brewing whose the first person your friends, family ,ask,  whose the first person they listen to,  And because we are obsessed we really can give them accurate and concise information.  I bet you every regular poster on this board has 5 maybe 10 people ask them whats going on when a storm forms.  And the cool thing is we can give them an answer, not the NHC answer, but an answer thats good enough to help them understand whats going on and, THAT...THAT will save someones life.
So yes, there's my justification if you want to call it that.  I can almost guarantee most of the folks on this board have a personal weather audienc that looks to them for an answer.  And the price we pay is if your in the line of fire?  Your decisions need to be right on.  I think everyone ive exchanged with on this board would right on
