I agree with you 100% Weathercritic.  It's ashame no one wants to discuss a storm unless it has a chance of slamming into a coastline.  Funny thing though nothing is ever 100% certain in Meteorology until after the fact.  Your going to tell me a hurricane has never defied the models this far out in time?  Especially since with this storm we've had 2 models flip flopping back and forth between a hit in the northeast and offshore.  Seems to be a close call to say the least.  I don't think the models even showed it hitting cat 4 at this point.  So, there is still a way to go before forecasting intensity with the same degree of accuracy as the forecast track.
