The disturbance remains disorganized, but this was no surprise as strong westerly winds across the NW Caribbean and GOM has hindered development. In addtion, a complex pattern of shear, ULL's and competing low -mid level circulations have further slowed the gathering process.
However, it appears that a tropical low will begin to gather between the Yucatan and Western Cuba / Extreme SE GOM under a slowly improving upper pattern, deep layer moisture and warm SST's. Once the large mass of storms in the Yucatan channel moves into the SE gulf today, a moderately strong low-mid level vortex near the Yucatan will merge with the vortex in the southern gulf and development should begin thereafter. |
