I'm sorry you have to be going to work during those conditions. A lot of rain Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday might have snow on the way home. I didn't realize the coastal flooding was going to be so bad.
I was going to say maybe you could keep an eye on the tidal data at a nearby station, but I don't know how often data is released.
GREAT SOUTH BAY AT LINDENHURST NY: https://waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/01309225/
And then "Retrieve data" for text data. It is 7:39am EST when I writing this, but last data is from 7am. Data intervals are every 6 minutes, but I guess it doesn't release every 6 minutes.
The NOAA tides and currents site doesn't have anything close to you: https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/map/index.html?region=New%20York
Though from the NOAA data you posted, I guess getting to work Friday might be the problem if the peak is in the morning.
Do you have a basement? I am unfamiliar with having a basement so is this kind of flooding something that could threaten that if so? (maybe so close to the ocean that's not something people have, I don't know) Though the first level of the houses there don't seem very high at all.
I was looking at the Masters/Henson blog and their blog had an update yesterday titled "What on Earth is a polar vortex? And what's global warming got to do with it?" for those that want to learn more about it. https://yaleclimateconnections.org/2022/12/what-on-earth-is-a-polar-vortex-and-whats-global-warming-got-to-do-with-it/ |
