| Brian Norcross means well but he is like a walking alarm screaming the threat to anyone who will listen. The problem is last year with Irene when he was yelling 1938 all over again when the system continued weakening while coming ashore the U.S. Turns out the surge was minimal on the coast and he took heat for that. Each hurricane has it's own set of problems based on where it is hitting & from what angle. Everyone knows SE Louisiana goes under water in just about every situation so IMO it is up to the local TV stations like Chris said to tell those in the lowest areas to get out of dodge. I think the reason NHC does not give city by city surge inundation numbers is that they would too often be wrong based on tides wind shifts etc; too much liability when you micro manage. |
