You are correct Chis. Both of these hurricanes went on to bring historic flooding to northeastern South Carolina where I live....plus into southeastern/eastern North Carolina.

Floyd was the first in 1999 when the Waccamaw River in Conway almost broke the record crest set in 1928.

Chart of record crest of Waccamaw River in Conway, SC.Historic Crests
(1) 17.87 ft on 10/18/2016 - Hurricane Matthew
(2) 17.81 ft on 09/30/1928
(3) 17.61 ft on 09/27/1999 -Hurricane Floyd
(4) 16.20 ft on 10/10/2015 - Joaquin (indirect)

2015 flooding caused by indirect effects of Joaquin
2016 flooding caused by Hurricane Matthew

Following Matthew in 2016 small town such as Nichols, SC and Lumberton, NC were inundated with flood waters due to Matthew.
