A basketballer when young eh? Never my cup of tea but I was one heck of a runner when young and pretty good at gymnastics too. Oh to have my youthful body back! LOL. (Dorian Grey anyone?)

Anyway, swimming and biking is best for an old timer and smoker like me. It keeps some life in the lungs and tone in the muscles. (I know, the smoking's got to go - and likely will soon.) Perhaps you should give up jogging and stick to swimming - or take up bicycling (much easier on the knees and feet.)

Congrats to your daughter; I hope she enjoys it as much as she performs well. Just don't forget to build an interest in book reading for the kids - as difficult as that may be these days.

Incredibly, we had another torrential rain this Monday - another set of training thunderstorms - but the edge of it was only blocks from here. We got a huge dousing, and the creek overflowed again (making everyone a nervous wreck) but there was limited inflow from upstream so the flooding was contained to grassy areas. We're expecting yet another bout of heavy rains around Friday....sheesh.

What seems to be happening here is - cold fronts pressing down from the north are stalling out right atop Cape Fear; and "training thunderstorms" are setting up - resulting in multiple (and I do mean multiple!) thunderstorms over a small area. Folks inland are begging for rain while we on the coast are suffering deluges.

Without looking at any maps, my guess would be the western edge of the Bermuda High is nearby - blocking things from getting beyond this point.

What we don't need here is any frigg'n tropical cyclone - especially one of the slow moving sort!
But that seems not a problem for the time being.

Okay man, it's sack time. Ciao!
