The Year of Not Much?

Happy August 3rd to you all...we are now in the heart of Hurricane season and so far...not that much has materialized as you all well know by now. In a few weeks we will see the "experts" re-adjusting their numbers downward and finding that reaching the 7th or 8th storm this year might or might not even happen. Long range outlook shows that we can very easily get to August 15th with nothing going on in the basin, Caribbean, gomex..etc...

Then what?

Will we see an explosion in the 2nd half of August and then have a slamming September?

Weird things are going on with upper level winds this season...just not allowing anything to really blow up. 2 months and 2 days into the season and the "C" storm is going fishing if he even exists past 72 hours.

Honestly, until this situation with the upper level winds plays itself out in all corners I think this will be a below average season...it has been the story all season so far. Even when models build something within 2 or 3 runs they change their minds and whamo! Nothing. It keeps happening over and over. Sure, it is still getting into the mid-season hot part of the whole cane game...but at this rate I am gonna take a shot here and say this is going to wind up as a year of not much in the tropics.
