Another note.

The natural state of the planet in recent geologic time is....cold. Looking at geologic-scale temperature charts, it clear we're chatting here only because we're in a geologic warm spike.

Our planet goes into these periodic long, long slides downward in temperature then suddenly burps into short-lived warmth. The last "burp" occurred 12,000 years ago, allowing agriculture and civilization to sprout around 9,000 years ago....and here we are.

The charts are clear; left to its own, planet earth will soon (geologically) slide back into the deep-freeze. Perhaps man-made global warming is an inadvertent first step towards the future controlling of nature by man?

We may stumble about, overheating the planet for a while before technology can catch up but in the end, global warming may be the key to future survival. I honestly wouldn't be surprised...
