Just Look at the Charts

On that page are several charts of varying time frames. It's clear our current ice ages are cyclical which screams "orbital causes." Orbital causes are in fact accepted by science today. (The pattern does not go on forever due to continental shift.)

It's also evident that warm spikes, long by the human life time scale, are awfully short in geologic time.

Also quite noticeable is how the amplitude of temperature swings on the 5-million year scale is increasing; warmer warms and colder colds (as the 100k cycle gained dominance over the 41K year cycle.)

Clearly the earth has been in a warming trend since our relatively recent  "little ice age.".. And looking at earlier warm spikes, one could easily conclude we have several more degrees centigrade to go in natural warming before reaching the peak (with who knows how many more small valleys along the way.)

I believe with or without man, Earth has more warming to go before entering the next cold phase. I also believe man is speeding up the warming process....Which leads to only more questions.

We know ice ages are cyclical but we don't know the precise triggers. Ironically, man-made warming may provide a trigger to the next cold epoch ahead of the natural trigger; we could enter the next ice age ahead of the orbital schedule!

There are so many fascinating possibilities....but alas, our life-spans are too short to see such great changes. And in that, we're most fortunate!
