Re: Who really has the proof

"There is a lot of false scientific data that is deemed the truth today about GW.I think it may be because most people don't understand the scientific method ..."

I agree; but the "false data" is not coming from many actual scientists; it's coming primarily from religious fundamentalists who, like the Energizer Bunny, are relentless in their fear and hatred of science (because it challenges their ancient "truths." )

Without the "scientific method" reasoning fails. Does religion encourage rational thought and the "scientific method"? Absolutely not; to do so would be to encourage self-destruction.

Is religion then the root problem? According to my studies on neuroscience, the surprising answer is "not directly." Religion is a symptom of "conservative" brain physics; that is, conservatives and liberals have quite different brain scans when reacting to identical stimuli. Conservative brains have a noticeably lower tolerance level to any stimuli out of the ordinary. These brains thrive on structure, authority, and a non-changing environment. Religion is perfectly suited to such brains, and probably even generates a positive feedback-loop (I would suggest something like a drug for an addict.)

Brain scans on liberals show little change in activity given unusual stimuli. The brain is "tolerant" because it doesn't get upset over unusual propositions. Structure and authority are not worshiped, nor is any sort of religious fundamentalism.

Global warming, like evolution, is a science proposition. Given the massive amount of resources put into rejecting evolution by fundamentalists, we certainly must expect the same for global warming. And in fact, if one Googles and reviews many global warming websites - there's no shortage of religious sites against the proposition (and none that I've ever seen for it.)

Bottom line? The bulk of critics appear religious based (dig deep enough and you'll usually find it) while the bulk of supporters appear to use the "scientific method" of reasoning.

Rational thought leans heavily towards global warming; irrational thought leans heavily against it. That GW has become heavily politicized in the U.S. is probably due to the large number of "Bible Belters" in Congress and the great power of conservative media.

When I analyze anything, I always consider the source...and then I analyze the source, lol.
