Thank you for the academic and heart felt responses. My dad (RIP) survived Katrina, but not the toxic aftermath. We lost him one year later. His demise I question to this day, but I have no doubt it was the toxic wasteland of the Gulf Coast that took him; ie, Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS)
Hurricane City cannot do anymore than it does to warn folks!!! Just let it be clearly known, that "Congratulations You Survived The Storm", and let's look at what's in store for you now! The 'now' is horrible, and it's the immediate days following, and the months to come as the community around them, that was torn apart, rots and becomes an air borne and tactile threat.
I'm so worried for my East Coast friends and unknown. I walked the Katrina devastation. It's freakin mind blowing that a huge house could be reduced to something so small that you could pick your teeth with the shard of wood remaining, most had nothing left, not even the concrete foundations....all blown away. My parents survival was nothing short of a miracle, as if the plastic cone of protection had descended upon their home, shingles missing and that was it!
Some of us get it, I fear, too many will not. This storm is to be feared!
I apologize for being so off topic!!!!
