The bolded part is not what you want to see in a landfalling system
ANIMATED INFRARED SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS THE SYSTEM HAS BECOME EXCEPTIONALLY SYMMETRICAL AS THE CONVECTIVE BANDS HAVE FURTHER DEEPENED AND WRAPPED TIGHTER AROUND A 13-NM PIN-HOLE EYE. THE CURRENT POSITION IS BASED ON THE ABOVE ANIMATION WITH HIGH CONFIDENCE. THE INITIAL INTENSITY OF 130 KNOTS IS BASED ON RECENT DVORAK ESTIMATES FROM RJTD AND PGTW RANGING FROM 127 TO 140 KNOTS.
This cyclone is most likely doing some serious damage.

TYPHOON (TY) 11W (UTOR), LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 109 NM NORTHEASTWARD OF MANILA, PHILIPPINES, HAS TRACKED WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 15 KNOTS OVER THE PAST SIX HOURS. ANIMATED INFRARED SATELLITE IMAGERY REVEALS TY 11W HAS ACCELERATED AND WEAKENED SLIGHTLY AS THE NORTHWESTERN PERIPHERY OF THE SYSTEM BEGAN TO INTERACT WITH LUZON ISLAND, CAUSING A DISRUPTION OF THE SURFACE CIRCULATION. AS A RESULT, THE PIN-HOLE EYE HAS ONCE AGAIN FILLED IN. THE LOW LEVEL CIRCULATION CENTER WAS JUST OFF THE COAST OF LUZON AT THE VALID TIME OF THIS WARNING, AND HAS SINCE COME ASHORE. THE CURRENT POSITION IS BASED ON THE ABOVE ANIMATION AS WELL AS PGTW AND RJTD FIX POSITIONS WITH HIGH CONFIDENCE. THE INITIAL INTENSITY IS ASSESSED AT 120 KNOTS BASED ON DVORAK CURRENT INTENSITY ESTIMATES RANGING FROM 102 TO 140 KNOTS, AND TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE NOTED DEGRADATION OF STRUCTURE. |
