The little islands affected by Super Typhoon Usagi

Palaui, Camiguian, Fuga, Barit, Mabog, Iroo, Dalupiri, Calayan, Panultan, Babuyan, Balintang, Dequey, Vohas, Sabtang, Batan, Itbayat, Dinem, Siayan, Mavudis, North, Y'Ami and Lanyu are located in the Luzon Strait.  They were in the direct path.  Many more are in the S. China Sea on the west side of Taiwan.  I had a difficult time trying to get the list of names I was not sure if the names were cities orthe island name nor I read the Chinese language.  Trust me when you start to zoom in on what looks like a few tiny islands tend to multiply the more you zoom in.  As you move toward Hong Kong there are more and there were no names.  I gave up someone else can take over.

MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE 2 - 1 p.m.) Super typhoon "Odette" (international codename: Usagi), the most powerful storm of the year, brought torrential rain and strong winds to the Philippines and Taiwan Saturday, uprooting trees and knocking out power as it barreled towards Hong Kong.

The typhoon battered Batanes province overnight with gusts of up to 250 kilometers per hour, affecting communication lines and damaging crops, officials said.

"The winds are very strong. I cannot even go out now," Batanes Governor Vicente Gato told dzBB radio in Manila. "Many trees have been uprooted and we have no electricity."

But by Saturday noon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration had lowered the storm signal over Batanas to No. 3, meaning winds of 100-185 kph can be expected over the next 18 hours, from No. 4.

Storm Signal No. 2 (60-100 kph winds) was up over Cagayan, the Calayan and
Babuyan island groups, Apayao and Ilocos Norte while Signal No. 1 (30-60 kph winds) was raised over Abra, Kalinga, Isabela, Benguet, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province and Ifugao.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center issued its highest alert, with flooding recorded in four regions of Luzon while several roads and bridges were rendered impassable by overflowing rivers or landslides.

There were no immediate reports of any casualties, although emergency and relief services said they were prepared for the worst with more than 100 families having already been evacuated in one northern province.
