| My daughter lives in Hatteras so every year at this time I end up here. We have spent about half our lives there since 1986. There are thousands of homes along the ocean front and one to two lots back from Hattteras Village to the end of the island at the Bonner Bridge. Most locals live on the sound side of the seven villages but the soundside flooding is often as bad as the oceanfront. After Matthew two years ago my daughter was homeless for a while and they have really just gotten the home that they ended up in fixed the way they want it. I am crushed to think of what this storm could do and praying hard for it to turn. I have so many friends and family members on that strip of sand. |
