Scary is the word here on Pensacola Beach too, Alligator, for all kinds of reasons, not to mention that our main evacuation vehicle is going to be in the shop for heavy repairs Monday*. We have a truck, but it's hardly convenient for dealing with luggage and all the other "stuff" needed for evacuation to a hotel. This is not to even mention that we elderly folks do NOT want to be in a hotel at all during the pandemic. And of course we have a freezer full of food, thanks also to the pandemic and not wanting to shop regularly. Wonderful. All in all, I am EXTREMELY nervous right now. Have made reservations off island and hope against we don't have to use them. Were it not for the fear of rapid intensification I might be recommending we not evacuate at all. Should also make reservations farther away as I sometimes do, in case all area hotels close, but just can't bear the thought. *Now IF the repair shop tells us not to bring the car in Monday a.m., we're doubly screwed - it has a serious heater core leak and is only marginally drivable by pouring in more water, all of which ends up under and in the passenger side carpet. But we can't leave it in our garage here for fear of surge! GAAAHH.
