Thanks, Chris, but honestly I've completely given up on NWS radar. Ever since cypresstx suggested it I've been using NOAA's MRMS radar and finding it pretty darned good, with lots and lots of features, like optional automatic updates, speed and other image setting choices on the looping function, county and/or highway overlays, just to name a very few:

https://mrms.nssl.noaa.gov/qvs/product_viewer/

Just click on your location on the main map and then you can click in as close as you want, or scroll back out using the "Enable Mouse Wheel" function. You can also create a "Permalink" once you've got your preferred view and other options selected, and then, whenever using that link, just click on "Current Tine" to show current radar instead of the originally saved image.

I'm still getting used to it, still slowly learning as I access it, but IMHO it beats the pants off the new NWS product, and I'm not sure at all why they didn't just migrate to this product, maybe with more enhancements; for instance, my only two real complaints so far are that (1) this, too, shows only UTC time, pretty annoying, and (2) more importantly, it does not show warnings.

Chris, have you tried this at all yet? Would be interested to know whether or not you consider it superior to the new NWS product, even with the fixes you're implementing, and if not, why not. Am I completely missing something?
