They're returning now that it is warmer. My dad some some yesterday and today and so did I in the yard. I also looked out the window I usually see them and instantly saw one. My dad saw one on our back patio outside too. There is usually one or two out there that seem to live around there. I'll have to see if I see as many when it turns cooler for a bit. We've just had a lot of cloudy days, with some cooler days as well, for a long stretch and I think it might have been the duration.
Thankfully we don't have too many poisonous things around. There's only ever been a couple of poisonous snakes I think in our yard. Maybe in our house once too a long time ago, though we were unsure if it was. We think it might have been a coral snake, but we're not sure. And then there might have been another snake, maybe before I was born, but that might have been a regular one. It's been awhile since we've had a rattlesnake. We have lots of black snakes, including a smaller variety with a red ring around its neck. I think rarely maybe a green snake too. But those are all harmless. If it's not all black, all green or all black other than a red ring around its neck, I run.
We have bats around sometimes, so it's best to avoid being around when they're swooping down. Wouldn't want to accidentally need a rabies shot if they bump into you and somehow bite you.
I've never seen any poisonous spiders here. I have in Tennessee when visiting family, but just the regular kinds here that I have seen.
I guess in some places more than others you have to be careful where you walk. Or be careful when gardening, sticking your hands where you can't see. I don't really ever think about it. We have some thick bushes around. |
