I accidentally walked into a brown recluse web in our back yard, right in front of the gate - totally grossed me out, the next morning the web was back & I waited for the spider that built it - knocked it down & killed it, saw the matte brown body with the tell tale pale fiddle on it's back

in our last home, the kids were little & my husband took them for a walk to the park with their plastic "bug catcher" pail that had a cover with air holes - came back with a coral snake in it... "red touches black, poisen it lacks - red touches yellow, you're a dead fellow" I freaked out, but they took it & released it in an area further away from our home. It's quite rare to see them actually, but they found it just hanging out on the asphalt, trying to cross the road on their way to the park, right next to the bayou.

when I was walking with my husband decades ago, (boyfriend then) I bent down to pick up this "cute little snake", luckily he turned around to see why I had stopped walking next to him & saw me, screamed "copperhead, don't touch that!" and I quickly left it

we have had a couple pet snakes that were really cool, but as a general rule, I try to stay away from crawly things in TX...
