Thanks. I see it wasn't just me then. I tried reporting the outage online using Home Depot's Wi-Fi and TECO's site didn't work for me to submit the outage. Kept coming back to the map when I entered my address. Never said they got my outage report. I finally gave up. I could have called on my tablet using a Google Voice number, but Home Depot was really busy and I knew they at least had the report. Didn't think they would change our status. I had some neighbors call for us too that had cell phones. That's a disadvantage of not having a cell phone and having your landline tied to needing the internet and power. I knew Dana Shores was really hard hit and I just didn't want TECO to assume that we were an area that couldn't get power back because our power runs by that neighborhood to get to us. (even though they would know some homes had power I assume in my neighborhood, but then again I don't know at what points they monitor usage) That neighborhood spent a heck of a lot of money in the past few years to get undergrounded power at every home. Each resident in our neighborhood actually paid a little part of it because the power lines to get to us would then be underground pretty much. (we already had power that way inside our neighborhood) Then the power substation is a block away from Dana Shores, so most of our power would be where wind couldn't knock down a powerline. (A substation that had to also be underwater now that I think about it, but some people around here did get power from it still and never lost it) I didn't know that undergrounding had negatives. |
