I signed up to receive these via email, after Brettschneider mentioned that if the NWS had started using "Gulf of America" there should 1st have been a service change notice, so the SPC employee(s) using it was out of order. I figured I could get info more accurately & faster - if you wish to receive them, just click the link after "Subcribe" at the link above
here's the latest - it kinda brought a lump to my throat as I recently found, doing genealogy research, an article about my deceased uncle receiving an award & promotion for his 1st deployment in WWII, on Okinawa Shima

Subject: Weather Surveillance Radar-1988 Doppler (WSR-88D) Kadena Air Base, Japan (RODN) Has Been Decommissioned Effective November 25, 2024, the Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan WSR-88D (RODN) was decommissioned by the Department of Defense. The Department of Defense will follow Federal property procedures and work with the National Weather Service to ensure the appropriate WSR-88D components are identified as excess material for recovery by the NEXRAD Program.
