Well, for barotropic, no, I wouldn't either as much of the influence would be associated with SST anomalies and variations in the oceans rather than shaping a circulation pattern.
I just took a climate course last semester that specialized in teleconections and natural variability with a touch of anthropogenic forcings, and honestly this is the area I want to study further so I'm looking at Grad Schools where I can pursue this type of research. I'm not a huge fan of "how much snow is X location going to get" or "what will the high be at the airport or ASOS station at X location" . Well, and obviously the tropics. Love that, but we know that allready. |
