Re: concern over containment vessel being broken

What concerns me more than anything is the proximity to the ocean.  If the containment vessel has truly been breached in reactor 2 that means different types of radiation could escape and begin irradiating the entire structure.  If the nuclear fuel pellets begin to drop from the rods they could begin to heat upwards of 2200-2500 degrees, uninhibited by the control rods and accelerated by the water.  While the containment building may be designed to handle this, its never been tested for an extended period.  If for some reason this molten pool of fuel at the bottom of the containment structure could reach the water table or the ocean the results would be catastrophic world wide.  You would have a perpetual radioactive steam engine.  While I don't believe this will happen, with the third explosion in the emergency closed loop circulating cooling system, which was in direct contact with the core structure,  it  is very very worrisome.  Especially with the still high risk of tsunami's.
