Always good to keep up to date on your health

Thanks. It definitely pays to keep up to date on things like routine physicals and other things, like various vaccines. Things like pneumonia, shingles and other shots you can get. I think some people are afraid of going to the doctor because they might find something and that scares them. But finding something, if there is something to find, is the point. You may catch something when it is easily treatable. Wait too long, and it may not be. It's like skin cancer. Jim found it and did something about it. My dad has had skin cancer before too, though not as serious as the one Jim had. My dad recently had skin cancer again and got it treated early. I was at the hospital in Alabama where my sister was and he was showing me how he scratched his arm on something because he has think skin and he bruises easily. I then noticed something next to it that he hadn't seen. (I wouldn't have either unless he pointed out the scratch) He called to make an appointment and when we got home he had it checked out and got it removed. When they found it had been skin cancer, which he has had multiple times previously, they removed more of the area. He had actually just been to the skin doctor a few weeks prior and it either popped up since or they missed it. (it really was hard to see) He goes every 6 months or more often if he actually finds something himself. (if I spot something I say something. sometimes I forget and have pointed out a same spot multiple times even though they have already looked at it, but it pays to be vigilant)

Eventually we'll move and I think the person who would buy the house would tear it down and build bigger, so the damage isn't really a big deal. (Over 40 years ago, when my house was built, they didn't build it right and it's a wonder the concrete tile roof has stayed intact as the wood holding it up is 2x4's spaced out poorly) People in our neighborhood sometimes do that, preferring to build the biggest house possible and to have a two story house. I always thought I would like to have a two story house, more room to store junk I guess, lol. But my sister had one and I can say that after just two weeks going up and down stairs a lot has made me completely rethink that. The termite damage was mostly in cabinets that were built in the garage that can be removed anyway. They did get into one wall, but I don't think that is probably damaged much at all. The drywood termites though, you can't really tell what they are doing. They are inside the wood. So once you find evidence you kind of have to do something because you won't find a lot of damage I think, unless something comes crashing down. The only evidence we had was a few dead termites. To spray for other bugs, my dad sprayed a window sill in the bathroom. As a result, a few died. There were also some wings left behind on the window sill and some poop as well. We weren't certain they were termites, but luckily since a few died we had them and the termite people came and looked at that. We also called and sent pictures to our local county extension service to verify that they were drywood termites. Hopefully that will kill them at least for a few years. We had to move some plants outside the zone of where the tent was. But we have two areas where there were some large plants that we didn't move. It killed most of them immediately. 48 hours after the tent was down we got back and a lot of those plants were quite dead. Some with no green left. My dad cut some back to the ground and we'll see if some come back. We'll just replace them with some other plants we've been growing if needed.

I just don't remember seeing people with a mask recently. In the past month and a half, I don't know if I have seen a single person. In Tennessee when I was out at the grocery store, I'm pretty sure I got some looks, but no one said anything. Things are really low now, so I get why a lot of people aren't. I spent two and a half hours at my great aunt's house with a mask on while showing her some old family photos and I found it a bit hard to breathe. I had to move it off my mouth a few times for a few seconds. Maybe because she doesn't hear too well so I had to speak really loudly during that time. But if things were to get worse, like how they had been at some peaks, I hope people do start wearing them again. I am out so rarely, it's not really a big deal to usually wear one. But in June when there were periods when I had to wear them a lot, for many hours, it was hard to do. Sometimes I would go outside where it was hot just to take my mask off. If things were to get worse with the coronavirus though, I guess people would have to go out less if they couldn't handle wearing a mask due to breathing issues.

There's always something and the latest thing I heard about a few days ago is a fungus called Candida auris:

I guess for people who have other health issues, it can be quite deadly.

Then a few counties south of me is where some locally transmitted cases of malaria, from mosquitoes, have been recently. I know there had been at least one case in Texas too.
