Only the NHC's graphics. Other sites have to know what the center line is or else they will not know how the cone should be drawn. The coordinates are given in the forecast/marine advisory and discussion. I built a system that processes that data into a line and will eventually have a cone created from it. (I have not released it yet.) Other places probably will show the line still because most people do want to see it. Having a line does make it easier to see which way something is trending from advisory to advisory, but it can be tricky since the storm will not likely follow a straight path between the two points and some people just can't understand that a third of the time on average, it will be outside the cone. So I'm kind of mixed on the issue. I think it should probably be left in and people just warned about the danger of looking at the line. If people want to be ignorant, it can't be helped. |
