I keep thinking the NHC has some special tools and images that I don't have access to and that they know better.

Then I see something like this and I have to wonder. Where do they come up with their centers?

How many models are largely dependent on the NHC's determination of a cyclone's center point?

Does the NHC ever test a center point to see what happens to the model forecasts before declaring a center?

Have center point locations ever been rechecked or revised in order to avoid scary forecasts?
