Re: State of Emergency for FL counties: Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Bay and Gulf

Hi weather, I'd been thinking about you and wondering where/how you were.

Unthinkable is the right word, but here we are.  And things could get a whole lot worse if those undersea pipes continue to erode; the spill could become exponentially bigger.  In that event (or maybe even without that happening) I'm not discounting the possibility that build-up of fumes could force us to leave the island.  It's a potential health hazard in the making.

Absent a miracle, I'm afraid we're in for a tragedy of epic proportions.  I still don't think I've got my mind entirely wrapped around this yet, or I'd be collapsed in a pool on the floor.  May yet arrive at that point.  For now I'm just deeply worried and depressed.

The protection efforts here are being concentrated in the inland waterways and bays.  Our Gulf front beaches are on their own, and it's positively heartbreaking.  So sad to think of the end of a way of life for us and countless others, especially those who depend on the Gulf for their livelihood.

Take care over there, and keep in touch.
