Very typical of hurricane landfalls along the northern Mexican coast---105-110mph winds. Even without knowing all the numbers associated with shear , and dry air intrusion in particular quadrants of the storm--unless the storm is already a major and has more power than the aforesaid windstrength you can pretty much guess a 105-110 mph landfall along this stretch from south of Brownsville south to Tampico. Have been some with a little more strenghth---Gilbert (cat 5 at landfall along Yucatan) was able to recuperate and make landfall along the northern Mexican Coast at about 120mph. But by and large---several occasions---105-110mph as a norm. |
