I remember when you called attention to it during the final approach to the coast. And the hurricane hunters were in there during much of that period. So if I speculate that with the lower pressures and the EWRC that perhaps the winds were being underestimated, I would almost assuredly be wrong (since the hunters were in there). Unless perhaps the formula used by the hunters to deduce wind speeds at the surface was not adequate in the case of Alex. But the EWRC along with the pressure readings does make one think! |
