| Doug I am not sure what you mean by nanny state but the comment was uncalled for & is against the rules of the board as this opens up a political thread. When you have millions of people that can be affected you have to put up watches &/or warnings period regardless of class of people. The media has the obligation to "be real" about the situation and stop overhyping systems that are not warranted. NHC cannot tell the media what to say they only issue watched & warnings based on track error. All of the major media outlets completely overblew this story & that is what hurt commerce for those few days, especially in the Cape Cod area. I dont think I saw a model taking this into NYC or LI for that matter but the hype was absolutely rediculous,they kept bringing up the 38 hurricane MY GOD!! Sending TEAMS of reporters to beaches with calm seas behind them and on & on. |
