Most models are still predicting this thing won't even be in the Gulf yet in 120 hours. I think the GFS has it hitting Florida in 162 hours. So there's still a lot of time for this to play out.

I don't think that trough will pick this system up if it stays weak. Heck, with Emily, the trough was digging down pretty far south and it stayed on a west course. We'll see what happens here in the next 48 hours and if this thing gets its act together. Still premature to say whether the Eastern Gulf should be on high alert yet.
