I think it does more to open up the southeast to landfall than it does Texas and Louisiana. Just about every model that takes this thing into the Carib. & Gulf seems to want to keep the storm in the eastern half of the GoM. If it's going to affect TX or Louisiana you would need a strong ridge building in over Florida and the northern GoM, and right now I don't see that in any forecast models. But as others have said, it's awfully premature to talk US landfall right now. Very premature.
