A lot hinges on where the closed circulation eventually forms--if farther north, I think Florida is a lot less vulnerable. If farther south, and this system ends up wading through the Carib. south of Hispaniola and Cuba, then the scenario you describe seems possible. However, we did just watch Harvey get driven straight into Belize, so it remains to be seen whether a storm tracking south of Hispaniola can find a way to achieve some poleward motion.
