Mark, glad you found refuge in Spanish Fort. Also very glad your home was intact! Yay!
I admire your assistance work and also your work as an adjuster - often a thankless job, but someone who can make ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the lives of the claimants. We had a wonderful, reasonable and understanding adjuster after Hurricane Ivan and I've never forgotten him. We should be so fortunate as to have someone like him if/when it happens again, which it likely will.
I'm absolutely amazed and shocked that the snowbirds keep coming there! There have been several local news stories here in the Pensacola/Pensacola Beach area about the tourism bureau's efforts to convince those snowbirds and vacationers displaced from farther east to come here, as we are basically unscathed. But from what you're saying, it sounds as if they don't consider themselves displaced at all! How ignorant is THAT? Shame on them!!
As for the media having left you, that's just the way it always is. We had the same thing happen after Ivan, though we didn't have nearly the attention you did in the first place. Sadly, the viewing public has a very short attention span and soon tires of the same tragic story. It's very hurtful, I know. But those silly snowbirds should've already gotten the message, for Pete's sake!!
