we could use the rain

drought starting to set in here & yesterday's storm didn't give me a drop. ERCOT has issued 2 energy conservation emergency requests to reduce power this week, temps have been unbearable past couple weeks

nobody needs a bad storm though, many still recovering from Harvey here & other storms elsewhere

today's snippet from afternoon CPC: https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/threats/threats.php

Both the 06z GEFS and 00z ECMWF ensembles show increased southerly flow out of the Gulf of Mexico during week-2. Several GFS ensemble members continue to indicate a tropical disturbance tracking toward the Gulf Coast early in Week-2. The deterministic ECMWF and most of its ensemble members do not develop a tropical system, but do depict increased rainfall along the coast early in the period. A moderate risk for heavy precipitation is now posted for the Central Gulf Coast for 8/23 and 8/24. Confidence is increased that rainfall totals reach 1 inch in a 24-hour period, regardless of whether or not tropical development occurs. A slight risk for heavy precipitation is posted for a larger part of the Gulf Coast for 8/23-8/25 to address some uncertainty in regards to exact location of the heaviest rain and timing.

as it gets closer in time, WPC will post here for days 3-7: https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/threats/threats.php

I will keep you & your family in my goods thoughts, karen - best wishes for a speedy & complete recovery
