Good evening, Okinawa!

Our Thai Rain God, Prapiroon has been "affected" by the appearance of our latest entry into the West Pacific Typhoon Relay, Tropical Storm "Maria." That's right, I just met a storm named Maria!! ;) The first storm this season named by the USA (and the only one I don't pull a muscle trying to pronounce) WON'T be paying us a visit. She's a thousand miles to the east, headed north over a whole lot of water. HOWEVER, Prapiroon is apparently trying to get this little chiquita's attention. The Thai Rain God, formerly headed for the typhoon archives, has stopped moving and is starting to strengthen a couple of hundred miles off the west coast.

The Joint Typhoon Warning Center is still predicting the closest point of approach at 190 miles away on Thursday morning; but the models are in total disarray (and it's nearly showtime) with the Japan Meteorological Agency track heading for the southern end of Okinawa. Don't put much faith in either prediction for now. This storm is moving around like a 17-year-old trying to parallel park a Chevy Suburban. In the snow. At night. Wearing sunglasses. We won't have much of an idea where Prapiroon is really going until it starts moving again - giving us darned little time to get ready if it starts moving THIS way.

I (still) don't know when or if we'll start walking up the TCCOR ladder, but the wind you hear whistling outside right now and knocking geckos off your window is the Thai Rain God spinning up, so I'm calling it: Set TCCOR Bouncy House! See you in the morning! Bring doughnuts! Stormy
