If you have Florida's insurance company of last resort, Citizens, make sure you don't ignore communications from them

I have Citizens since I live on the water, and am very low, and other insurance companies don't want to touch us usually. But for the right price, some do. For Citizens, they are constantly trying to kick people off of it. They will automatically dump you to a new insurer, doesn't really matter what quality that insurer might be, if you don't stop the process. They tried doing that before here to me but I declined to be switched. Most recently we got an email about a new document available in our Citizens account, "PC Depop PolicyHolder Choice". We weren't exactly sure what it was, though we had a clue, and when we logged into our Citizens account within hours of the email, there was no letter. So my dad called our insurance agent the next day and we found that it was Citizens trying to dump us onto a company that would have charged thousands more. So we stopped it and are staying with them. The state of Florida isn't going to go bankrupt, but some random company might. But if the new insurer willing to take you for a high price, within 20% of what you are paying now, you are forced to switch. (Used to be 15%) Thankfully we didn't have to because the new rate would have been much higher. But because we get Citizens communications by email, rather than through the mail, something we changed back to now, we're not sure if we would have gotten that notice by mail too. Perhaps we would have. Perhaps not, and had we missed the email, we might have been switched eventually. I'm not sure. So we got rid of paperless for that important account. If you are in the same situation like us, watch out. They are really trying to kick people off. We already had to find other insurance this year for another policy because of a company that dropped us. A lot of insurers just don't want much, if anything, to do with Florida any longer.
