I am origanaly from Alabama and spent the better part of twenty years in that state.During that time I expressed my diapproval of offshore drilling at every oppourtunity available,to no avail. As best as I can remember I can not recall ever having a chance to actually vote on this issue;not a vote no would have mattered against the multinational oil companies anyway, as we all know that in this country money matters not the people, enviroment or right and wrong.
Americans need to wake up and wake up now, money is not part of nature, therefore there is no reason that our every decision needs to be made based upon capital ! We will very soon destroy our selves for the sake of capital if we do not change our thinking and behavior. Our socioeconomic system needs to be based upon the reality of human ''need'' and the fact that this planet is not a private planet to be exploited for private profit at the expence of those who are supposedly less competitive or less hardworking ! We all enjoy the same air, sunshine and electrochemical process which make life possible;why is it that if we should be treating the planet as if it were private property, that we have only one sun,one atmosphere, one planet and we all exist thanks to the same forces that gave birth to life? And by the way,the book''The Tragedy of the Commons'' has been discredited even by Hardin himself who latter lamented that he should have titled that book'' the tradegy of the unmanaged commons'' At any rate the book was set in a fictional setting that did not exist anyway ! Okay,Okay I will shut up with the polotics and philosophy !
I am wondering if the oil from this spill reaches the Gulf Stream if in fact that resivour of warm water and air that keeps Europe from being an ice box could actualy be shut down,do to changes in the phyisical properties of that stream ? Any thoughts on this ? |
