Tourist in Pensacola is full of hot air!!!!!

For some reason couldn't get to the linked Advocate story tonight, but I read a similar report in an AP story today about this supposed visitor to Pensacola Beach saying she'd been here before and it "just isn't the same" and that tar is everywhere.  BALONEY.  The sand is still as pristine white as it's ALWAYS been (OK, maybe a few slight degrees grayer than before the restoration efforts that began mid-decade, but still PLENTY WHITE).  The "tarballs are everywhere" statement is patently false!!!  We have 8-1/2 miles of beach and there have been only spotty patches of small tar balls at intermittent locations each morning, which  have been cleaned up each day.  I was out on the  beach this afternoon, walked for 35 minutes, plus spent a total of probably an hour in the water, and neither saw nor experienced ANY oil nor tar balls whatsoever.

I just HATE IT when the media -- or people they are quoting in plain sight of the facts -- exaggerate for sensationalistic reasons.  The truth is serious enough!

That said, things could get a whole lot worse here very soon -- or not.  All depends on winds and tides, which right now are not looking favorable, but that could change.  Just take everything in the media with a grain of salt, people - that's all I'm saying.

Frustrated and angry on the Gulf Coast,
BL
