Re: Seems Like Earl was a 'Cane at Landfall, And One Death So far

Whatever the label, it was a good storm at landfall.

Some say; "if it ain't a major it ain't a 'real' storm. Other say "if it ain't a hurricane it ain't a 'real' storm. Ho-hum.

Simple fact is, even a small or moderate tropical storm is an exciting storm. Heck, how often does the wind blow at 40 or 50 mph all day?

From a Mid-Atlantic perspective, one would likely need experience several nor'easters before coming across one with 50+ mph winds actually ripping through the neighborhood; wait years before seeing one with 60+ mph; and perhaps a decade before seeing one screaming with 70+ mph 'real life' winds.

For Canada, Earl was certainly not a typical summer day; 'hurricane' or not. I'm sure many enjoyed the surprise summer storm. And that's what it's really all about...
