I just noticed the wave heights from Earl:

"IN ADDITION TO THE STRONG WINDS WHICH WERE OBSERVED IN NOVA SCOTIA,
HERE WERE THE RECORDED PEAK WAVE HEIGHTS FROM A FEW OF OUR REPORTING
BOUYS:

EAST SCOTIAN SLOPE    18.3 M
HALIFAX HARBOUR       23.3 M
LAHAVE BANK           25.1 M"

From: http://www.atl.ec.gc.ca/weather/hurricane/bulletins/20100905025002.Earl.txt.en

25.1 meters = About 82 feet
