Lawkat,

You make great points on your list, but reading your post,  the 1935 labor day reference is my biggest fear on a coast line. This will happen again, a weak storm will undergo extreme strengthening overnight and what was a 50-60mph storm before going to bed, is a 150mph monster slowly moving towards a highly populated city continuing to deepen.

I placed the 1900 cane first in my list due to the damage and death toll. But, the barometer for years too come was set by the 1935 cane (892mb) 400-600 direct fatalities and hit the middle keys (Islamorada). Imagine this hitting a major city.

Lastly,  TWC  named the 1935 cane as the storm of the century and that team of experts included the great John Hope...
