I followed a convoy of emergency vehicles and a lot of other things, including lots of boats and rescue like vehicles, from up north on 589 down to just near me. Large tree was down across the street leading to my neighborhood and we waited half an hour to an hour while sheriff's department sawed it and moved it out of the way enough for one lane to get through. We have power and Spectrum phone and internet. There was no surge here. Only a downspout down which can easily be put back up. One roof tile moved a few inches but it does that normally. We were exceptionally lucky.
Some trees down across the neighborhood, including some large ones. Some damage like roof tiles blown off and smashed around. Some screen enclosures have panels out. Some roof damage around the eaves of some people's houses.
I took pictures of a lot of neighbor's houses and will email some to them now.
I imagine traffic is going to be a mess. I planned my evacuation route to come back hopefully easily. Side streets, even major ones, are likely going to be a mess. It might take awhile for some people to come back. After emailing some neighbors, I am going to enjoy undoing the prep I did. Maybe most people wouldn't, but I know how lucky I am. I haven't turned on the TV, but I can only imagine what Sarasota is like. Saw a helicopter fly by. Imagine some are already down there.
